How to make a coaching website that helps you find clients fast
If you’re an entrepreneur, coach, or small business owner, having a website is a great way to showcase your talents. It’s also an effective way to attract and retain customers by helping them easily find information about your company online. You can see our coaching services here as an example.
Design Your Coaching Website
Once you’ve chosen a domain name, it’s time to find a hosting service. There are tons of options out there, but I recommend Bluehost for its user-friendly interface and affordable rates.
Once you’ve signed up, download the latest version of WordPress and install it on your site. Once the installation is complete, go straight into the dashboard by clicking “Dashboard” in the top right corner.
The next step is to customize your website: add pages and posts, tweak themes/colors/images as desired (I recommend sticking with a minimalist approach), then publish them!
Create a Domain Name
You’ll want to find a domain name that is easy to remember but still relatively unique. This will make it easier for people to find your website, so take your time choosing the right one! And if you can get a domain name to reflect the benefit of your service then even better.
Domain names can be purchased from several different registrars. You can find out which domain registrar would work best for you by looking at their offerings, reading reviews from other users, and researching their reputation in the industry. I tend to use Godaddy.com they are a little pricier, but you can always get them on the phone and I like to have that as a safety measure.
Find a Hosting Service
If you are looking for a web host, there are tons of options out there. There are many different types of hosting services, but the most common type is what’s called shared hosting. When you use shared hosting, your website files will be stored on a computer that has been set aside just for people like you who want to make their own websites. The good news is that with shared hosting, the cost is usually pretty reasonable—often under $10 per month! Again, I use Godaddy.com
Download WordPress.org
You’ve heard of WordPress, right?
There is the blog, and you can download that for free, from wordpress.org but it’s functionality is limited and in my opinion you need more skills and time to set it up.
Now I’m not plugging Godaddy here, I know this is the 3rd time now I have mentioned them, there are other providers, but they have a 1 click WordPress install which I find very useful.
Find Your Coaching WordPress Theme
A theme is a layout. There are free themes and paid themes. Each theme is customisable. The free themes don’t tend to come with graphics, the paid themes may have the graphics included and you just edit away.
- Find a theme that matches your brand. This is one of the most important parts of choosing a WordPress theme for your coaching website. If you’re just starting out, it can be hard to know what type of branding you want to create and how that will play into your website design and colors. Your theme should reflect what kind of coach you are, whether you focus on personal development or business advice, and any other specialties within the coaching industry. So for example a coaching website will probably be a mixture of text and images, with about 80% of the space dedicated to text. However, if you were setting up a shop, perhaps 90% of the space used is probably for photos.
- Look for a good design (and lots of other features). Good design is important for any website because it sets the stage for everything else users see when visiting—including trustworthiness! But with so many options available now in terms of quality themes from different companies, how do you know which ones are really worth investing in?
- Look for ease-of-use (and other helpful features). While all themes have some level of customizability built into them, some are easier than others when it comes down to actually using them on live websites. Themes with fewer bells & whistles tend work best here since there won’t be too many settings that need changing once installed; plus they can often handle more traffic without crashing due to lacklustre performance specs!
- I use the Hello theme, with a plugin called Elementor. The plugin allows me to edit the theme very easily.
Determine Your Pages
Every coaching business should have these pages:
- Services: A list of the services you offer, such as “online coaching,” “in-person consulting” or “telephone counseling.” This page will help potential clients understand what it is you do and how they can work with you. Each page works as a sale page either with a buy now button or a way to book an appointment with you.
- Contact: Your contact information (name, email address and phone number) should be listed here so people know where to reach out for more information about your services. If possible, consider having an appointment request form on this page so that prospective clients can book sessions with ease—or even sign up for the free course offered at the bottom of this article!
- About: An engaging description about who you are and why people should hire a coach from your firm. You’ll want it to be clear what experience qualifies someone like yourself as an expert in their field(s).
Conclusion
You’ve now got a coaching website for your business! Congratulations. You may have noticed that there are lots of different options available to you when it comes to designing and building your site. We hope this article has given you some helpful tips on how to make the process easier, but if you need more help there are plenty of resources out there—from online tutorials to in-person workshops—that can give you all the information needed so that setting up your own website doesn’t feel like a struggle anymore.
