An interview with Corey Gulick Life Coach
What is the biggest obstacle you have had to overcome in your life?
When it comes to overcoming obstacles, I’ve definitely had my fair share. In the past three years alone as I ventured into the online coaching world I’ve had my Facebook account shut down 3 times for a total of about 14 months, my mother had a duel surgery for two types of cancer, my grandmother passed away while my mom was being operated on, and my younger cousin died from a drug overdose.
Those were just in the past 3 years as I started my online entrepreneurial journey. But none of those would be the biggest obstacle I’ve had to overcome.
Looking back at the last 39 years of this thing we call life, I’d have to say the biggest obstacle I’ve had to overcome was 2008. This was what I call the worst best year of my life.
In 2008 life was good until it wasn’t.
I was living the good life. But soon that would all change.
In 2008 I lost my job at General Motors, my fiancée and I broke up, I got 2 DUI’s (Driving Under the Influence), I lost my drivers license, my truck was repo’d, my house was foreclosed, and at the end of that year my best friends dad passed away who was more of a father to me than my own dad.
Sometimes in life, you don’t see the obstacles coming, but in this case, I kinda did. The only thing was, I didn’t know what to do about it.
What are your three top tips to overcome the obstacle?
Looking back at it now though, I would say these are the 3 things I did to help me overcome all those obstacles.
1) Have Faith
2) Be persistent
3) Have determination
Having faith in yourself and knowing that you can do it is super important to being successful but I also had faith in God and that he would help me through it.
Being persistent was very important as well. A lot of coaches or guru’s like to say you need to take “massive” action. But it’s not massive action. It’s small consistent action that leads to big results.
Determination is wanting it more than anyone else. Again, the experts will say you need a big enough why, but if you ask me, it’s your WANT that will get you the things you’re after.
With these three things, you can accomplish anything!
